Year 3 - Maple Class

Year 3 - Maple Class

Welcome to Maple Class

Our teachers are Miss Parkinson (2 days) and Mrs Yates (3 days).  In Year 3, we are beginning our journey into KS2 and will continue to grow and develop into happy, confident learners. Children are afforded a little more responsibility when they move into the juniors and we try to encourage them to have a little more independence.  The school day is very busy with a varied timetable which is designed to encourage learning and enjoyment by all.  We promote a growth mindset approach to learning and encourage all children to try their best and to have the confidence to have a go.

We are going to be learning about lots of exciting things this year including:

Revolting Romans- Learning about life in the Roman times.

Greek Odessey- Life in Ancient Greek times.

Light it Up-studying Florence Nightingale with a link to electricity in science.

Key information:

Break time snacks Toast and bagels are available at break time payable via SCOPay. This needs to be paid for in advance.

Read 4 The Stars: We ask children to read four times a week and have their reading diary signed each time they read and it should be brought in on a Friday.  If children have read 4 times, they will earn a reading star and there are lots of rewards and incentives on offer.

Homework: Homework will be issued on Friday and should be returned on the following Wednesday. Children can keep working on their spellings, reading and practising times tables on Times Tables Rock Stars.

Spellings: Spellings will be issued on a Monday and they will be tested the following Monday.  Please ensure children practise their spellings daily using Spelling Shed.

Music: This year we will be learning how to play the ukulele with Mr Richards.  He will teach music on a Monday morning.  If your child has a ukulele at home, please encourage them to bring it in to use.

If you need to speak to a member of staff, please do so via our Class Dojo and follow what we get up to in class on our class story and on our Twitter page @coppullprimary
