Welcome to Cypress class with Miss Proctor
We are a mixed Year 5/6 class and all work together to grow, develop and achieve success whilst having fun! In Cypress class, children are encouraged to be active, independent learners preparing each individual for the challenges of Upper Key Stage 2 and moving onto high school. We want the children in Cypress class to have high expectations of themselves and be the best that they can be.
Throughout this year we will cover a range of themes including:
- Marvellous Mayans
- Walk like an Egyptian
- Crime and Punishment
Throughout these themes the children will take part in a range of activities and experiences across the currciulum. The children will learn to play a brass instrument and some children will continue with their swimming lessons. The Year 6 children will attend Hothersall Lodge for their residential visit and Year 5 children will have a day experience at Rock and River.
Key information:
Break time snacks: Toast is available at break time payable via SCOPay. This needs to be paid for in advance.
PE: Please send the children’s PE kit at the start of each half-term ensuring it is all labelled. It should remain in school until the end of the term.
Homework: Will go out on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday. Children can keep working on practising times tables using Times Tables Rock Stars
Spellings: These will be set on Spelling Shed each Monday and should be practised every day ready for the spelling test the following Monday.
Read 4 the Stars: Please can your child read at least 4 times per week. Don’t forget to record it in their reading record so that they can achieve their star and 5 Dojos.
Water bottles: please can you ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day so that they can stay hydrated an essential part of being ready to learn.
