Welcome to Cypress class with Miss Proctor
We are a mixed Year 5/6 class and all work together to grow, develop and achieve success and have fun. In Cypress class, we like to encourage our children to be active, independent learners and prepare them for the challenges of Upper Key Stage 2 and moving onto high school. We want the children in Cypress class to have high expectations of themselves and be the best that they can be.
Throughout this year we will cover a range of themes including:
- The Wars that changed the World
- Off with her head!
- Stone Age to Iron Age
Throughout these themes the children will take part in a range of activities and experiences including going swimming and learning a brass instrument. The Year 6 children will attend Hothersall Lodge for their residential visit and Year 5 children will go to Rock and River.
Homework and Spellings: Homework that is sent home is always linked to work completed in class. Homework is handed out every Friday and should be returned on a Wednesday. Spellings are tested on a Monday each week and new spellings are available on Spelling Shed to practise at home.
Read 4 The Stars: We ask children to read four times a week and have their reading diary signed each time they read, and it should be brought in on a Friday. If children have read 4 times or more, they will earn a reading star and there are lots of rewards and incentives on offer.
PE: PE kits are required in school every day. These will be taken home to be washed at the end of each half term and should be returned on the first day back after the holidays. Children can bring an outdoor PE kit for the colder winter months, and this should be their normal white PE t-shirt, tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie or similar. Earrings are not permitted to be worn for PE so should be removed on PE days.
If you have any questions regarding anything at all, please contact me via Class Dojo. Don’t forget to keep up to date with what is happening on our twitter account @coppullprimary
