Year 3/4 - Beech

Year 3/4 - Beech

Welcome to Beech class with Mrs Hughes and Mrs Cummins.

Beech class is a mixed class of year 3 and 4 children. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that is enriched with school trips and visitors throughout the year. We will encourage all children to become independent life-long learners.

In Beech class, we will provide a safe and caring environment in which all children can succeed in achieving their potential following our school’s mission of aim high, respect all, enjoy learning and achieve.

Key information:

School Uniform:

Please ensure that your child follows the school’s uniform policy every day, including the correct footwear.  Trainers are not permitted to be worn except on PE days. Children may bring a bag into school, but pencil cases are not permitted.  Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day to keep hydrated, this may be refilled in school and should be taken home to be washed every day.

PE Kit:

PE will take place on Thursday each week.  Children should continue to come to school with leggings, jogging bottoms or shorts and trainers on their PE day.  Please ensure they are appropriate and black/grey please. Trainers can be any colour.  Children should still wear their plain white PE t-shirt or their white polo shirt and their school jumper or cardigan.  Hoodies and other t-shirts are not permitted.  Please can we ask that children remove their earrings on PE days.

Beech class will be swimming on Wednesday each week starting with the first week back. Children should come to school in their normal school uniform and bring their swimming bag. They will need to bring a towel, swimming costume/trunks or shorts and a swimming hat. Swimming is part of the National Curriculum and so it is important that children participate in their lessons each week.

Read 4 the Stars:

Read 4 the stars will continue and will be checked each week. Please encourage your child to read at least 4 times per week and take part.  Children will win awards for taking part weekly but more importantly, reading is one of the most important aspects of education as it is a skill required in every other subject area.

Spellings and times tables will be sent home every Monday and will be tested the following Monday. Homework books will be sent home on a Friday and will need to be back in by the following Wednesday.

 Breakfast/After School Clubs:

Places must be booked in advance for any before and after school care clubs. All payments need to be sent in electronically via SCOPay.  Please contact the school office if you have any issues.

This will continue to be just toast or bagels and should be paid for in advance via SCOPay. It helps us if this can be paid for a full half term so that we don’t miss anyone out if it is done so on an ad hoc basis.

Thank for your support and if you have any questions or concerns then please message us on Class Dojo.  Please follow and keep up to date with our class on the class story on Dojo and on Twitter @coppullprimary.
