Welcome to Pear Class.
Our teacher is Miss Wigglesworth and our teaching assistant is Miss Higham
Here in Pear class we are always ready to learn and try our best. We build on the knowledge and skills you have learnt in Year 1 and encourage independence through the use of equipment in class. We celebrate a growth mindset by children ‘having a go’ at tasks they find challenging and not being worried about making mistakes.
Pear Class Themes - Here is an example of some of the learning taking place this year.
The World Around Me – We will be exploring the UK in geography, looking at significant historical events and developing our printing and sewing skills in art and DT.
Fire! Fire! – We will be learning about The Great Fire of London in history, looking at the geography of a place in the UK and a small contrasting non-European country, cooking and nutrition in DT and listening to rock & reggae in music lessons.
Space! – We will be researching Neil Armstrong in history, taking part in games and athletics in PE, identifying plants in science and programming and handling data in computing.
Break time snacks
Toast and milk are available at break time payable via SCOpay. Children will receive a piece of fruit each day at break time.
Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday.
On PE days, children should attend school wearing their PE kit consisting of plain black or grey shorts, joggers or leggings, plain white t-shirt, school jumper and trainers.
Weekly homework will be set on Fridays and should be completed by the following Wednesday. This will be posted on Class Dojo.
Weekly spellings will be sent home on a Monday via Class Dojo for your child to learn. Spelling tests will then take place the following Monday.
Read 4 the Stars
We ask children to read four times a week and have their reading diary signed each time they read. If your child reads four times in a week they will earn a reading star, we have lots of rewards to encourage reading at home.
