Welcome to Pear Class

Our teachers are Miss Todhunter and Mrs Adams. Here in Pear Class we are always ready to learn and try our best. We build on the knowledge and skills you have learnt in Year 1 and encourage independence through the use of equipment in class. We celebrate a growth mindset by children ‘having a go’ at tasks they find challenging and not being worried about making mistakes.  
Pear Class Themes - Here is an example of some of the learning taking place this year. 
Around the world – We will be locating the world’s seven continents and five oceans in geography, looking at how toys have changed in history and developing our colour mixing  in art and design. 

Nature all around us – We will be focusing on natures sculptures in art and design, learning some key gymnastics skills in PE and creating seasonal salads in design and technology. 

Technology in my life – We will be creating digital art in our art and design sessions each week,  in science we will be looking at plants and the seasons and researching why Tim Berners-Lee is significant in history. 

Key Information:  

Break time snacks 
Toast and milk are available at break time payable via SCOpay. Children will receive a piece of fruit each day at break time. 

P.E Please send the children’s PE kit at the start of each half-term ensuring it is all labelled.  It should remain in school until the end of the term 

Homework: Weekly homework will be set on Fridays and should be completed by the following Wednesday.   
Spellings: Weekly spellings will be set via Spelling Shed on a Monday for your child to learn.  Spelling tests will then take place the following Monday.  
Read 4 the Stars 

We ask children to read four times a week and have their reading diary signed each time they read. If your child reads four times in a week they will earn a reading star.
