Welcome to Maple Class
In Maple Class we work hard, try our best in everything we do, enjoy learning and celebrate our achievements. The children are encouraged to be active, independent and motivated learners to ensure that they are ready for the challenges of Key Stage 2. Please follow @coppullprimary on Twitter to see photographs of what we get up to!
PE: We have PE on Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school and that their kit is labelled with their name. Please leave this in school for the half term.
Homework: The children will be set homework every Friday. This will be either maths or English and should be completed in their homework books. Spellings will be sent home on a Monday and tested the following week.
Times Tables: Learning the times tables is a vital part of the year 3 curriculum and the children will be encouraged to practise regularly at home and tested in school. The tables they need to know by the end of this are; 1s, 2’s, 10’s and 5’s, 11s, 3’s, 6’s and 8’s. The children have log in details for Times Tables Rockstars which we encourage them to use at home.
There are some other great apps and games such as - Squeebles, Times Tables 2, Hit the Button, Maths Times Table Trainer.
Reading: Hearing your child read regularly at home is key for supporting their spelling and writing. Read for the Stars is taking place each term. All it takes is 5-10 minutes of reading 4 or more times a week to earn a star. Please support your child with this at home as much as you can by signing their diary each time they read.
Class Dojo: Maple class will be using Class Dojo to collect Class Dojo points as a reward for manners, behaviour and following school and class rules. Class Dojo’s will be counted with house points and give the children extra opportunities to earn rewards. We will also be using Class Dojo as a communication tool between parent/carer and teacher and used as a reminder tool for every upcoming events, for example: class trips. If you require log in details please just ask.
We have an open door policy so if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to speak to me.
