Year 3 - Maple

Year 3 - Maple

Welcome to Maple Class

Our teacher is Miss Parkinson and our teaching assistants are Miss Dean and Mrs Arends.  In Year 3, we are beginning our journey into KS2 and will continue to grow and develop into happy, confident learners. Children are afforded a little more responsibility when they move into the juniors and we try to encourage children to have a little more independence.  The school day is very busy with a varied timetable which is designed to encourage learning as well as ensure enjoyment by all.  We promote a growth mindset approach to learning and encourage all children to try their best and to have the confidence to ‘have a go.’

We are going to be learning about lots of exciting things this year including:

Hunter Gatherers- We will be learning about life in The Stone Age through to the Iron Age.

Greek Odyssey-We will be learning about what life was like in Ancient Greece.

We Are Not Amused-completing a study of Queen Victoria and learning about life in Victorian Britain.

Key information:

Break time snacks Toast and bagels are available at break time payable via SCOPay. This needs to be paid for in advance please.

PE: Our PE days are on Tuesday and Wednesday.  At this time, children should come to school in trainers and shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms with their polo t shirt and school jumper on PE days.

Read 4 The Stars: We ask children to read four times a week and have their reading diary signed each time they read. If your child reads four times in a week they will earn a reading star, we have lots of rewards to encourage reading at home. Diaries should be sent in on Fridays to be checked and stars awarded.

Homework: This will be issued on a Friday and needs to be completed by Wednesday of the following week.  Please support and encourage children to complete their homework.  Any homework issued will always consolidate learning completed in class. This will be issued online using Purple Mash and Times Tables Rock Stars.

Spellings: Spellings will be issued on a Monday and they will be tested the following Monday.  Please ensure children practise their spellings daily.

If you need to speak to a member of staff, please do so via our Class Dojo and follow what we get up to in class on our class story and on our Twitter page @coppullprimary
